Friends of Greyhounds is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to provide retired racing greyhounds with a caring environment and loving homes and to educate the public about these noble, loyal dogs.
Friends of Greyhounds is a final ray of hope for greyhounds that have no place to go after they retire from racing. Originally founded in Sunrise, Florida (in Broward County, just west of Ft. Lauderdale), Friends of Greyhounds adopts to qualified adopters throughout the South Florida area. In 2002 Friends of Greyhounds were offered use of an adoption kennel in Hialeah, in northern Miami-Dade County. Friends of Greyhounds holds open houses there every weekend and also tries to work festivals and events in Delray Beach and Boca Raton in Palm Beach County as well as in Broward and Miami-Dade. In 2003 Friends of Greyhounds was pleased to launch a southern group in Monroe County to service the Florida Keys. Friends of Greyhounds have placed dogs all the way from Key West to Key Largo!
